Random Valentine's MikoRei

9/06/2015

Loreena wrote a fan fiction for one of her World Literature and Composition class. I will be filming her explanation as to why later on today and will post the video. Here is her fan fiction.

Random Valentine's MikoRei
It was Valentine’s Day, Reisi’s least favorite day of the year. It’s not like he had anything against the holiday, it’s just that he didn’t like all the lovey dovey couples flaunting their relationships in the halls.
It was around lunch time and also Reisi’s off period. He made his way down the hall and to the restrooms. Once there he went into one of the stalls, but when he tried to get out he couldn’t. He was stuck in the stall and the door just would not budge.
“Great, another reason to hate Valentine’s Day,” he thought.
Just as he was about to ram his shoulder into the door someone else came into the restroom. Reisi called out but to his dissatisfaction it was the school delinquent, and also his least favorite person, Mikoto Suoh.
“Wow, the class president got himself stuck in the stall. How funny,” Mikoto chuckled. “Can’t you just crawl under the door?”
“Unlike you I still have my dignity. That and I don’t want to soil my uniform,” Reisi replied. If it weren’t for the fact that Reisi has had a crush on Mikoto, sense who knows when, he might have actually taken his suggestion.
“How like you to care for such a trivial matter,” Mikoto scoffed.
“Can’t you just go and get help?” Reisi snapped.
“Nah, it’s more fun to annoy you.” Reisi couldn’t see Mikoto’s face, but he was sure that he was smirking.
After a few seconds of silence the most unexpected thing happened. Mikoto was crawling under the stall door and was soon in the small stall with Reisi.
“What..? Why are you in here? You’re too close move over,” he snapped. Mikoto chuckled and shuffled even closer to Reisi. Reisi could feel the heat rise to his ears and tried to move away from the vexing boy in front of him. In his attempt to get away, Reisi stumbled and his lips crashed straight into Mikoto’s. Reisi quickly moved away apologizing when Mikoto grabbed the back of his neck and was kissing him again. They stayed there for a few moments when Mikoto pulled away.
“What did you do that for?” Reisi asked breathlessly.
“Just thought that I’d kiss the boy I’ve had a crush on, on Valentine’s Day,” Mikoto grinned.

Reisi was speechless. All of the interactions they have had were mostly banter back and forth with a few vague conversations in between, never once had Reisi thought that Mikoto would like him. Reisi grinned back and kissed him again. Maybe Valentine’s Day wasn’t so bad after all, even if they were stuck in the restroom stall.

Pigs

9/01/2015

How many pigs do you think I am worth? This is the question Loreena asked out of the blue, she is a little loopy from her pain meds. I told her she was worth more than money to me. Her phone began to play an anime ringtone from K, I asked her what the words meant and she couldn't remember just that she likes the song. I think I will revisit this once she is coherent.

Weekend Observation 8/29 - 8/30

8/29/2015

My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed on Saturday morning and was very emotional on the ride home. I felt bad for her and decided to buy her an early birthday present; her first smartphone! So off I went to Target to fill her five prescriptions and to buy her phone; I was in a hurry to get her pain meds and while waiting I had enough time to make my big purchase. Loreena's friend Hannah came over to watch Loreena and keep her company while I was gone and as soon as I walked in the door she said Loreena needs something for her pain. I apologized and said it took a tad longer to get Loreena's phone than I thought it would. Wait! What? I think that is what Loreena said as she stretched out her arms toward me, I think she also wanted her pain meds. Once the meds kicked in she began the process of transferring all her music and pictures from her I-Pod shuffle to her new phone. I asked her why she needed to move pictures and what the pictures were, she replied "My anime pictures, in case I want to share them with my friends." Ah the anime pictures, she was obsessed with getting them moved. She then proceeded to download new ringtone and notices, all anime themed, onto her new phone.

8/30/2015

Loreena spent most of the day reading fan fiction. I did not ask her what it was about, it still hurts to move her jaw. I will ask tomorrow.

The Beginning

My children and their friends fascinate me with their love of all things anime. From my observations I have noticed that they are becoming culturally aware and culturally sensitive individuals and much of it appears to stem from anime. I am looking forward to my findings regarding this research as I have already been pleasantly surprised thus far.
